If God wants to take down a wall in Jericho He tells His people to march around the wall seven times and blow trumpets. When He wants to defeat the Midianites and the Amalekites and others He tells Gideon to reduce his troops from twenty thousand to three hundred. When a giant needs to be dealt with because he threatens Israel, God sends in a small shepherd boy with a sling and a few stones. None of these plans that God gave would ever survive a meeting on strategy nor defense. If you suggested these in the war room you would be laughed out of the room. Simply put, they would not make sense to anyone – well anyone except for God.
The spirit that is other than the Spirit of Christ is enemy of man and Christ. This other spirit, seeks to take hold of an individual, controlling that person which results in harm to the person and to others. This other spirit causes people to lose their sense of shame and live as if they have no conscience. This deceiving spirit will bring one to a place where they lack modesty and respect while enjoying the attention and delighting in the embarrassment of others.
This passage is a foundational truth, principles of life for every believer. This is how we are to live, this is what distinguishes us from the world, from the heathens, the pagans; the unsaved whatever you want to call it. This is the distinct behavior of those who truly belong to Christ, this is how we are separated from the world, by our love.
